SILENT E
The silent e is always seen,
But it is never heard.
It sits so very quietly,
At the end of special words.
It reaches to the left,
With a really long stick.
It goes two letters back,
And there it does its trick.
It taps the letter on the head,
And mouthes, “What is your name?”
The letter answers loud and clear,
And joins this little game.
So when you spot a silent e,
Look back the way you came,
Jump two letters back,
And make that letter say its name.
