Turning cork mats into art
So, painting cork mats is a thing now. Quite a fun thing too. My plan for these is to put them up on my kitchen wall as decoration or use them as little pin boards.
If this takes your fancy, here’s what you’ll need:
- Cork mats (thick, if you’re using them as a pin board)
- Electrical tape (seals better than masking tape)
- Acrylic paint
- Paint brushes
Tips
Continuing the paint round the edge of the cork mat gives it a nice finish. This is where a small paint brush comes in handy.
Painting solid areas is so straightforward, I asked my 3-year-old to paint one of the colours. Of course, be sure to tape over the entirety of the rest of the cork mat if you do this!
Painted cork mats are such an easy way to add an accent colour to a wall or create fun, geometric shapes that are trending at the moment. Leaving some of the cork unpainted also gives it an industrial look. Oh, and it’s very satisfying to peel that tape off at the end! Enjoy!
