Daniel loved to talk with God,
He prayed three times a day,
The king’s men tried to make him stop,
They thought they’d found a way.
“Oh king, you are so great,” they said.
“Here is our idea,
Make everyone pray just to you,
Or they’ll be lions’ dinner.”
“That sounds good to me,”
The king said with a nod.
What on earth was he thinking?
He knew he wasn’t God!
But without fail,
Three times a day,
Daniel prayed to God,
It was Him he would obey.
Into the lion’s den they threw him,
The king was so upset,
He thought about his silly rule,
And was full of regret.
But the lions went very quiet,
Even though they weren’t asleep,
God had shut their mouths,
They couldn't make a peep.
They couldn’t roar,
They couldn’t eat,
They couldn’t even yawn,
They just sat by Daniel’s feet.
All through the night,
God kept him safe and sound,
He didn't have a scratch on him,
When morning came around.
God had rescued Daniel,
The king was so amazed,
Then he made a whole new rule,
That only God was to be praised.
