A way to create extra seating and storage
Inspired once again by Pinterest, I decided to try out a bookcase/bench hack for our entrance.I put a few ideas together; my husband put the bench together, et voilà: entryway bench and storage! It’s a simple concept, but worked perfectly for the space we had, which was too shallow for a full bench or sofa. It’s also a useful place to keep items you need to grab before heading out of the door.
What we used:
- Kallax bookcase (IKEA)
- Kvarnvik grey boxes 30x30x30cm (IKEA)
- Acetate to cover box tags
- Card stock for box tags (made 8.5x6.5cm text boxes in Word, printed words and used IKEA box tags in the pack as a cutting stencil)
- Font used: Daydreamer (downloadable here for personal use)*
- Base cushion made of foam 148x40x5cm (I had this professionally cut and upholstered)
- Cushions (eBay and my Grandma)
- Optional: Pieces of plywood to screw to the bottom of the bench to give it a little more height
